Coaching is a non-directive relationship endeavored to support clients who have non-clinical needs in reaching their goals. The focus is not on reducing emotional issues or healing from past trauma. Coaching is proactive, results focused, and client centered. While coaching support can be ongoing, there is a special focus on defining specific, measurable goals from the outset, which are to be achieved during a well-defined timeline—generally, 6 to 12 sessions. Unlike therapy, life coaching does not follow a treatment plan or involve diagnoses.
Using psychological underpinnings, coaching focuses clients on the present and the future to generate relevant, action-oriented solutions. As a certified professional life coach, I aim to facilitate better interventions to support improvement in thinking, behaviors, and wellbeing. Although positive feelings and emotions often arise naturally through coaching, the main goal is to develop practical strategies for attaining specific work or personal objectives. In coaching, the emphasis is placed on taking action and being accountable for progress. For this reason, coaching clients have the desire and personal will to change, seek out feedback and accountability, and are open to new approaches. And, equally important, they have goals they want to focus on, or a problem they need to solve, and commit to work in-between sessions to implement new strategies.
There are many good reasons to hire a coach. Generally, people who decide to work with a coach have a wide array of goals and interests. For instance, they want to set better goals or reach goals faster, they want to make significant changes in their personal or professional life, they want to make better decisions and having someone with whom to collaborate and brainstorm, or just simply need external support and motivation. As a coach, I listen, challenge, collaborate, motivate, and strategize. I always work in the best interests of my clients, exercising a professional duty of care, understanding limits of practice, and utilizing referral mechanisms as appropriate.
I offer the following three packages:
Self-discovery: Know your values and get clear on where you are now, where you want to be, and address the gap. Develop an understanding of your strengths, while focusing on specific areas to further deepen your commitment and self-development.
Stagnant no more: Support through decision-making to set and achieve goals. Identify one specific problem and work through barriers and blind spots to flourish. An individualized assessment process helps you identify problem-solving strengths, situational responses, conflict resolution style, and opportunities for development.
Family coaching: Coaching for the caregiver, or support for the support system. This coaching program functions as a safety net for those who have a loved one struggling with emotional or mental health problems, severe illness, or addiction. Unlike family therapy, which can be open-ended, and requires the participation of all family members, family coaching is offered as a short-term, quick, and effective support to help process a new diagnosis, de-escalate a crisis, troubleshoot problems, and brainstorm solutions.
All coaching packages include:
- Pre-coaching assessment
- Session summaries detailing concrete action steps and points for reflection, allowing you to monitor your progress and prioritize your next moves
- Reasonable extra support in-between scheduled coaching sessions via email
- 15-minute phone calls for emergencies (twice a month)
All coaching packages are non-refundable. Results are not guaranteed and are based on the efforts you put in and the action you take to better your life.
